Reading Strategies
Next week we will be learning the reading strategy called “Lips the Fish”. This strategy will help students sound out words. They will focus on the first sound of the word.

Math
Next week will continue to discuss addition and subtraction strategies. We will strengthen skills with addition and subtraction to 10.

Notes
Our Halloween festivities are scheduled for Thursday, October 31st. The children’s costume parade will begin between 1:40-1:45 p.m. outside the school (weather permitting). Our classroom party will begin at 2:00 p.m. Students should bring their costumes to school that day in a bag with their name clearly marked on it. Please try to make their costumes easy to put on over their regular clothes. Makeup cannot be applied at school and toy weapons are not allowed.
Also, children are not allowed to bring candy or edible treats to pass out to their classmates on this day. The students will be having a small treat and drink in the classroom during the party. We also have students who have various food allergies in our class.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter!

Monkey of the week
Last week’s “Monkey of the week” was Ella! Ella’s favorite subjects are Math, Recess and Gym. Her favorite food is Pizza and her favorite book is Pinkalicious. Congratulations to Ella on her awesome week!
