Week of Aug, 27-31

               

                Welcome to Mr. Mandru’s First Grade Minutes. This will be the location of my weekly newsletter. Each Friday I will post information, notes, and reminders regarding our classroom. Communication between parents and teachers is something that I truly believe in. I feel that students are put in the best position to succeed when their parents are informed on the activities in the classroom. With that said, I encourage you to send me an e-mail or note with any questions or concerns regarding your student or our classroom.

Green folders- This week your student received a green take home folder. Your student will bring this folder home every day. In it you will find school work, notes and other information. We encourage you to look through the folder each night with your student. Please be sure to clean out the folder and put it back into their school bag. 

Snack- Please continue to send a snack with your student. We have about 10 minutes for snack each day. I recommend that you keep the snack separate from the lunch (if possible) to avoid confusion. We don’t want the students accidentally eating their lunch during snack time. I also ask that you try to keep the snacks healthy. Some possible snack ideas include fruits, vegetables, crackers, pretzels, etc. Water or juice is a good idea as well (Please label water bottles). 

Specials-

-          Gym and recess will be every day. Please make sure your student wears appropriate shoes to school. You can pack an extra pair of gym shoes in their bag.

-          Music will be held on Thursdays and Fridays.

-          Art will be held on Mondays.

-          Library will be held on Tuesdays. Students will be allowed to check out 2 books at a time.

Lunch reminders-

-          Please put your students name on their lunch bag.

-          Milk is 35 cents  (If you buy hot lunch milk IS included)

-          If there is a problem with you students account please call the office.

Coming up-

-          We will begin to review alphabet and letter sounds.

-          Author of the month- Eric Carle. Each month we will have an “Author of the month”. During each month will read books by the author and complete some activities related to each book.

-          Math- Chapter 1- Exploring Numbers and Patterns.

Reminders-  

-          No school Sept. 3^rd

-          1^st grade curriculum night Thursday Sept. 6^th

-          Please send a note if your child needs to be picked up in the morning.
