Reading Strategies
Next week we will continue
practicing summarizing and evaluating. We will also be reviewing predictions
and inferences. Please continue to practice these strategies at home with your
student.
Math
Our Chapter 5 math
test will be held on Monday, October 29th. Please review the Chapter
5 concepts with your student (adding to 12- Count on, number lines, doubles
facts, near doubles facts and drawing a picture). You can use the worksheets
the students completed in class for examples. We will begin Chapter 6 (subtraction
strategies to 12) on Tuesday, October 30th. The concepts we will
discuss are; using a number line to count back and relating addition problems
to subtraction problems (fact families).
Notes
Our Halloween
festivities are scheduled for Wednesday, October 31st. The children’s costume
parade will begin between 1:40-1:45 p.m. outside the school (weather
permitting). Our classroom party will begin at 2:00 p.m. Students should bring
their costumes to school that day in a bag with their name clearly marked on
it. Please try to make their costumes easy to put on over their regular
clothes. Makeup cannot be applied at school and toy weapons are not allowed.
Also, children are
not allowed to bring candy or edible treats to pass out to their classmates on
this day. The students will be having a small treat and drink in the classroom
during the party.
Thank you for your
cooperation in this matter!
