Reading Strategies
Since it is now closing in on the end of the year, we will be reviewing all of our previously learned strategies. We will be applying them in the books we read throughout the weeks. Please continue to discuss and practice these strategies with your students.

Math
Next week we will finish up chapter 24 which deals with addition and subtraction of two digit numbers. We will also have our test next week. Please practice these problems at home with your student.


Notes/reminders

HELP!
We are in need of Black Dry Erase Markers. Any donation of dry erase markers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

We have started our ABC countdown to the end of the school. We have celebrated letters A-N. We have had activities such as F-Freeze pop day, H-Hula hoop day, J-Joke day, and many more. Next week we will be celebrating letters T-W.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR STUDENT TURNS IN THEIR GREEN READING BOOKS. Thank you

Reading Journals- Please write the number of minutes read for each day and initial.

The Blackberry farm trip will be Thursday, May 30th.
Our end of the year picnic will be held Friday, May 31st.
There will be no hot lunch that day. Students will receive pizza, watermelon, and animal crackers with a Capri Sun drink. If your student can’t eat this, please pack a sack lunch.
The last day of school will be Wednesday, June 5th
The last day of school will only be an hour.

Reading Strategies
Next week we will discuss and review “sequencing”. When reading with your student ask them to retell the story in the correct sequence. Ask them questions like “What happened after”…”What happened before”

Math
Next week we will continue work on Chapter 22. Chapter 22 has students working with measurement. In this chapter students will use standard units of measurement (Inches) as well as non-standard unit of measurement (ex. how many paper clips long is a book).

We have recently finished up our chick unit. We have had some fun times learning about chickens. We had 7 chicks hatch total. Your students will be bringing home their yellow chick folders, along with a picture, next week.
