At this point in the year we are making a strong push towards Math Fact Fluency. At school we will be using a program called Xtramath, using timed fact tests and practicing Math flash cards. You can help at home by practicing a few facts at a time. Start with 0 facts and work up to 9 facts.

We are currently working on our geometry unit. Encourage your student to look for 3-d shapes throughout the day.
Ex. Can-cylinder, basketball- sphere

Notes/reminders

Reading Journals- Please write the number of minutes read for each day and initial.

We have started our ABC countdown to the end of the school. We have celebrated letters A-H. We have had activities such as F-Freeze pop day, Hat day, and many more. Next week we will be celebrating letters I-M.

Blackberry Farm- Permission slips were sent home today. Please fill out the form and send it in with the field trip payment. If you would like to volunteer for this trip, it will be $6 for each volunteer. Please send this money in with your student’s payment.

We have begun our chick unit! During our chick unit, students will learn about the growing process of a baby chick. We will discuss what the chick/egg needs and the different stages the chick will go through. During this unit we will incorporate other academic areas. We will compare and contrast, make graphs, discuss life cycles, etc.

Maps testing- May 12th-May 16th
Early dismissal- May 16th
No school- May 26th
Blackberry farm field trip- June 2nd (Information and permission slips will go home Friday, May 16th)
