Reading Strategies
Next week we will discuss “Making Generalizations”. We will identify generalizations within a story. We will emphasize that making a generalization means to make a statement that is true most of the time.

Math
Next week we review chapters 8 and 9 on Monday. We will then take our 8/9 test on Tuesday. The rest of the week, we will be reviewing all of our previous concepts.

Monkey of the week
Last week’s “Monkey of the week” was Abbey! Abbey’s favorite subjects are Reading, Art, Music, Math and Science. Her favorite food is spaghetti with meatballs.  Congratulations to Abbey on her awesome week!

Notes/reminders

Over break, please continue to have your student fill out their December reading calendars. I will collect them after break.  They will be receiving their January reading journals as well. Starting with their December reading journals, students who complete their journal will receive a coupon for a free personal pizza from Pizza Hut.

The Flu season is upon us. We are doing everything we can to prevent the spreading of germs within the classroom. There is Germ-X located around the room, wet wipes are available and the desks are being wiped down/cleaned every night.  Please encourage your student to use these. Feel free to send a personal hand sanitizer bottle for your student (little travel bottles).

Our holiday party will be held on Friday, December 21st. First grade will not be doing a student gift exchange this year. Each teacher will be buying gifts for their class.

Winter break will begin Monday, December 24th. There will be no school.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Have a great weekend!
